SERVING THE PUBLIC
In fiscal 2005-06, the foundation donated more than $100,000 to the Redlands Christian Migrant Association, which provides services and education to migrant farmworker families and other rural, low-income families. RCMA programs benefit more than 6,200 children in 74 centers operating in 20 Florida counties.
The foundation also is a leading supporter of the Produce for Better Health Foundation, which promotes fruit and vegetable consumption. PBH's new "Fruits & Veggies -- More Matters" campaign was launched in March to engage consumers, health care providers and produce industry partners with compelling messages about eating fruits and vegetables. EMERGENCY RESPONSIVENESS
In 2004, Florida was devastated by hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne. Although the effects were felt throughout the state, the farmworker community was among the hardest-hit. The foundation partnered with the Florida Citrus Packers and the Florida Department of Citrus to raise more than $200,000 for farmworker hurricane relief. The funds were distributed in cooperation with Florida Catholic Charities and Redlands Christian Migrant Association.
The foundation once again in 2005-06 supported the Casa San Juan Bosco housing project. The foundation's $150,000 contribution helps demonstrate the produce industry's commitment to developing more resilient farmworker housing solutions and has helped attract millions of dollars in state and federal funding for the project.
