2007 Benefit Auction benefits farmworkers' children through RCMA
The 9th annual Benefit Auction sponsored by the Florida Specialty Crop Foundation raised $43,000 to help the Redlands Christian Migrant Association. Funds were raised at a daylong silent auction and include contributions from the Above and Beyond Club, a group of donors who contribute funds above and beyond those generated through auction items. Proceeds will benefit RCMA's facilities and schools throughout Florida that provide care and education for children of farmworkers. Money raised by the auction for RCMA is matched by state and federal funds.
The Benefit Auction is held each year during FFVA's Annual Convention. Convention participants bid on items and services such as sporting event tickets, vacation getaways, fine wine and original art.
Past Benefit Auctions and donations have heped to support causes important to Florida agriculture and the people who make it possible. Since 1999, the Auction has raised more than $385,000 for RCMA, farmworker hurricane disaster relief, the Wedgworth Leadership Institute and the George F. Sorn Scholarship.
